Walk To End Alzheimer's

Posted about 4 years ago by Jennifer Kim

Hi Middle TN GAPNA!! I hope this message finds you healthy. Thank you for all of the work that you are doing to keep our older adult patients safe!  I wanted to put a bug in your ear about a couple of things:

GAPNA ANNUAL CONFERENCE

This year’s annual conference is virtual and starts TOMORROW! It’s not too late to register! All breakout sessions are on-demand and are already available for review. The live sessions start tomorrow. Although I miss seeing everyone in person, the flexibility of a virtual conference is really nice and this year’s conference content is fantastic. You can find links to registration by visiting the GAPNA website (GAPNA.org).

WALK TO END ALZHEIMER'S

The annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s is Saturday, October 17th. There will be no large in-person celebrations this year. Instead, participants and teams will be choosing their own locations. We will be having our walk at the Cornelia Fort Airpark. This is part of the Shelby Bottoms Greenway in Nashville. The area is perfect for the walk in that we can easily space out, it’s dog-friendly, and there’s ample parking. I will send out directions and more info as we get closer to the date.

We are teaming up for the Walk with Vanderbilt School of Nursing. I hope you join us! Below is a link to our team page (you can register here and also start your own page):

Our own Kanah Lewallen designed t-shirts for the event (you can still buy one if you can not attend). ALL of the profit goes to the 2020 Walk To End Alzheimer’s. The deadline to order a t-shirt is in 4 DAYS. Please note that, if you purchase a women's slim fit shirt, these run very small- the recommendation is to order 2 sizes up from your usual size:

MEET & GREET

We will have a (socially-distanced) meet & greet after the walk. It will be a great time for us to catch up and to talk about some upcoming group events. I'll probably bring some snacks, but it will be very informal. Feel free to pack for a brunch picnic.

Enjoy the rest of your week,

Jenny Kim, Mid TN GAPNA Chapter President
